Why you should balance your training and why every work out shouldn’t be high intensity

Having balance in your training is a non-negotiable if you’re wanting to progress long term.

If you are going HAM every single day, yes, you’ll improve for a while, but there’s a limit to how far that takes you and where will you be in a few months’ time, or a year’s time?

Training like that every day, at best, you’re fit but not really progressing. At worst, you start picking up little niggles here and there, or a full-blown injury.

And that’s not really what we’re looking for.

There’s a time and a place for going hard

We’re definitely not saying don’t ever do workouts that leave you on the floor.

There’s a time and a place for that. Hard workouts are part of getting fitter, building your capacity and seeing what you’re capable of.

But they shouldn’t be the only thing you’re doing.

You should also be doing workouts that give you the chance to progress. To develop skills. To build strength. To move well. To recover and come back ready to train again.

That’s where having balance in your training becomes important.

We do the thinking for you

At Principal Athletic, we do all of the thinking for you.

Our training isn’t just a random programme of hard workouts thrown together.

Our workouts are balanced across the week and across our training blocks.

That means you might have a hard conditioning session one day, but the next session has a different focus. You might be working on strength, developing a skill, building your aerobic capacity or doing something that allows you to recover while still getting a good session in.

Then, over the course of the training block, everything comes together.

The aim is that by the end of the block, you’ve got enough left in the tank to be hitting those PBs, getting to the next level and consistently developing and getting better.

Because that’s exactly what we want.

Not just to smash yourself every time you walk through the door.

We want you to actually get better.

A better way to train

If you’re tired of smashing yourself every workout and are looking for a better way to train, come and give Principal Athletic a try.

You’ll get the hard sessions.

You’ll get sweaty.

There will definitely be days where you finish on the floor.

But there’s also a proper programme behind it, with progression, structure and balance built in.

And as always, your first session is free.
